Release time:2026-09-21 15:59:34
Bangkok, Thailand | September 7–8, 2026
Sailgene was pleased to participate in the 24th International Conference of the Genetics Society of Thailand (iGST2026) and the 3rd Asian Genetics Consortium Conference (AGCC 2026), held on September 7–8, 2026, in Bangkok, Thailand.

Held under the theme “Genomics for World Biodiversity and Sustainability,” iGST2026 brought together researchers, scientists, clinicians, educators, and students to exchange insights across a broad range of genetics and genomics research. The scientific program covered three major areas, including genomics for sustainable agriculture, genomics for health and life sciences, and population genetics and genomics for conservation and biodiversity.
Exploring the Growing Role of Genomics in Sustainable Agriculture
While the conference featured a strong presence of medical and clinical genetics, the focus on sustainable agriculture, plant genomics, animal genomics, environmental genomics, and biodiversity was particularly relevant to Sailgene.

Genomics is playing an increasingly important role in understanding genetic diversity, improving agricultural traits, studying complex genomes, and supporting more sustainable approaches to crop and animal research. These applications require sequencing technologies capable of generating high-quality, information-rich genomic data from increasingly complex biological systems.
For Sailgene, this creates a natural connection between advanced sequencing technologies and the needs of researchers working in agricultural and applied genomics.
Connecting Long-Read Sequencing with Genomics Research
During the conference, the Sailgene team had the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with researchers and professionals working across genetics, genomics, agriculture, biodiversity, and life sciences.
Through these conversations, Sailgene introduced its sequencing capabilities and discussed how long-read and nanopore sequencing can support a range of genomic research applications.
Long-read sequencing can provide valuable advantages for studies involving complex genomic regions, structural variation, repetitive sequences, transcript isoforms, and de novo genome assembly. These capabilities are particularly relevant to research involving plant and animal genomes, population genomics, biodiversity studies, and other applications where comprehensive genomic information is important.
Sailgene's sequencing services include solutions for long-read genome sequencing, ultra-long sequencing, telomere-to-telomere (T2T) genome projects, pangenome research, full-length transcriptome sequencing, Direct RNA sequencing, and other advanced genomics applications.
Building Connections with Researchers in Thailand and Asia
Beyond the scientific sessions, iGST2026 provided an important opportunity for Sailgene to engage directly with researchers and explore potential collaborations in Thailand and the wider Asian genomics community.
The discussions at the Sailgene booth reflected the increasing interest in high-quality sequencing data for both fundamental research and applied genomics. Researchers shared their current projects and research challenges, while the Sailgene team discussed potential sequencing strategies and applications based on different project objectives.
These conversations also highlighted the value of connecting sequencing technology providers with local research communities to better understand the specific requirements of agricultural, biodiversity, and life science research in the region.

Looking Ahead
Sailgene is committed to supporting researchers worldwide with reliable and advanced sequencing solutions. Participation in iGST2026 strengthened Sailgene's connection with the genetics and genomics community in Thailand and provided valuable insights into emerging research opportunities across Southeast Asia.
As genomics continues to contribute to sustainable agriculture, biodiversity research, genome evolution, and life science discovery, Sailgene looks forward to working with researchers and institutions to explore new possibilities enabled by long-read and nanopore sequencing technologies.
We thank the organizers, speakers, researchers, and visitors who connected with the Sailgene team at iGST2026. We look forward to continuing the conversation and building new collaborations in Thailand and across Asia.
